SARS-CoV-2 transmission dynamics

Combining viral genomics with epidemiology, we investigated SARS-CoV-2 transmission dynamics in hospitals, analysis tools to support infection control, care home outbreaks, superspreader events, transmission in the University sector, and viral dynamics in immunocompromised patients.

Study investigating the spread and intensification of drug resistance in P. falciparum malaria in the Greater Mekong subregion of southeast Asia.

Genome-wide patterns of mutation in Plasmodium falciparum

During my PhD, I used mutation accumulation lines to study de novo mutations in P. falciparum. We discovered processes of antigenic variation for immune escape, and systematic mutation biases driving high AT content in the P. falciparum genome.

Developing scalable P. falciparum whole genome sequencing

A method for whole genome sequencing the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum from dried blood spots - which are readily collected in endemic settings.
