I am interested in microbial genomics, pathogen genomic epidemiology (with applications to clinical and public health settings), DNA/RNA sequencing technology, bioinformatics, statistics, machine learning, teaching/ training, infectious disease diagnostics (particularly molecular diagnostic methods), antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and novel antimicrobials.

Although I currently do not have funding available for PhD or postdoctoral salaries, I am very happy to work with students, postdocs, and clinicians interested in research. I have previously supervised Academic Clinical Fellows on their research blocks at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I would be very happy to supervise doctors on the Specialised Foundation Programme, Academic Clinical Fellows or Academic Clinical Lecturers.
